Honoring Joseph A. Feola upon his retirement and recognizing his dedication to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, especially his accomplishments as Director for the Southeast Regional Office.

WHEREAS, Mr. Feola graduated from LaSalle College with a BS in Biology and a MS in Water Resources from Villanova University; and

WHEREAS, He began his career with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Health on June 9, 1969 as a Water Pollution Control Specialist; and

WHEREAS, Joseph A. Feola has held a variety of positions within the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection including Industrial Hygienist, Environmental Protection Specialist 2, Water Quality Specialist Supervisor, and Regional Water Quality Manager; and

WHEREAS, He was promoted to Acting Regional Director of Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection's Southeast Regional Office on May 12, 1997 and became the Regional Director of the Southeast Regional Office on August 29, 1998; and

WHEREAS, As Regional Director, Joseph A. Feola worked tirelessly to develop and implement effective policies on many environmental issues, including the reuse of former industrial sites, permitting, and enforcement of environmental laws, that directly benefited the City of Philadelphia and its citizens; and

WHEREAS, Joseph A. Feola always fostered a cooperative relationship between his agency and the City of Philadelphia which has resulted in a strong regional environmental partnership; and

WHEREAS, He has received numerous awards during his forty three year career including the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Secretary's Award for Excellence in 1995, the Delaware River Basin Government Award from the Water Resources Association in April 1996, the Conservation Award from Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association in 2000, the Stewardship Award from Chester County Conservation District in 2002, the Public Sector Leadership A...
