Recognizing the Alzheimer’s Memory Walks and Honoring the Alzheimer’s Association, Delaware Valley Chapter.

WHEREAS, The Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Valley Chapter provides a wide range of services to 268,000 individuals suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders and their families; and
WHEREAS, These services include family caregiver training, a 24/7/365 toll-free Contact Center/Helpline (1-800-272-3900), support groups and multicultural outreach; and
WHEREAS, The Delaware Valley Chapter serves Delaware, South Jersey and Southeastern Pennsylvania, including the counties of Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Montgomery, Northampton and Philadelphia in Southeastern Pennsylvania; Camden, Burlington, Gloucester, Salem, Cumberland, Atlantic and Cape May in South Jersey; and Kent, New Castle and Sussex in Delaware; and
WHEREAS, The Delaware Valley Chapter is enlisting sponsors and registering team walkers for six Memory Walks:
Saturday, September 27 — Grove Park, Rehoboth Beach, DE
Saturday, October 4 - Trexler Game Preserve, Schnecksville, PA (Lehigh Valley)
Saturday, October 4 - Delaware Riverfront, Wilmington, DE
Sunday, October 5 - The Garden Pier at New Jersey Avenue and the Boardwalk, Atlantic City, NJ
Sunday, October 12 – Memorial Hall, Fairmount Park, Philadelphia, PA
Saturday, October 18 - Gring’s Mill Recreation Center, Wyomissing, PA (Berks County); and
WHEREAS, The Alzheimer’s Association has been a blessing to untold thousands of individuals and families, and we commend the Board, staff and volunteers for their wonderful work; now therefore
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby honor the Delaware Valley Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, and urge citizens and businesses to support the six Memory Walks.
RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Wendy Campbell, President and CEO, Alzheimer’s Association, Delaware Valley Chapter; and Melissa Eastburn-Nolan, Chair, Memory Walk 2003, as evidence of the sincere respect and admiration of this legislative body.
