Honoring and congratulating Dr. Alycia Marshall, PhD, as the Community College of Philadelphia celebrates her investiture as the College’s seventh President
Body
WHEREAS, Dr. Alycia Marshall, Ph.D., joined the Community College of Philadelphia (CCP) in 2022 as Provost and Vice President for Academic and Student Success, where she provided strategic oversight of Academic Affairs, Workforce Development, and Student Support and Engagement; and
WHEREAS, In May 2025, Dr. Marshall was appointed Interim President of the Community College of Philadelphia, providing steady leadership during a period of transition before being selected as the College’s permanent President in October 2025 following a national search, becoming the seventh President in the institution’s history; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Marshall’s distinguished career in higher education spans nearly 23 years at Anne Arundel Community College in Maryland, where she rose through the ranks as a tenured Full Professor of Mathematics, Department Chair of Mathematics, and Associate Vice President for Learning and Academic Affairs; and, she earned her Ph.D. in Mathematics Education from the University of Maryland, College Park, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Bowie State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County; and
WHEREAS, A nationally recognized leader in mathematics education and equity, Dr. Marshall has been named an Aspen Rising Presidents Fellow and a Charles A. Dana Center Mathematics Pathways Leadership Fellow, while receiving numerous honors for her contributions to STEM, higher education, and faculty excellence, and has contributed to national education initiatives through her work with organizations including TPSE Math and Carnegie Math Pathways; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Marshall has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to developing future leaders and expanding opportunity, founding the African American Leadership Institute at Anne Arundel Community College and spearheading the Aspiring Leaders Fellowship Program at CCP, while also contributing to Philadelphia’s educational and workforce ecosystem through service with organizations including Philadelphia Works, the Philadelphia Eds and Meds Collaborative, and the Economy League of Greater Philadelphia; now, therefore; be it
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Honors and congratulates Dr. Alycia Marshall, PhD, on her investiture as the seventh President of the Community College of Philadelphia and recognizes her continued commitment to academic excellence, student success, and the advancement of higher education in Philadelphia.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this Resolution be presented to Dr. Alycia Marshall, PhD as evidence of the sincere admiration and respect of this legislative body.
