Recognizing, Honoring, And Celebrating President Judge Frederica A. Massiah-Jackson On The Successful Completion Of Her Five-Year Term As The Head Of The First Judicial District.

WHEREAS, The Honorable Judge Frederica Massiah-Jackson was elected to the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas in 1983; and
WHEREAS, Judge Frederica Massiah-Jackson was elected as President of the First Judicial District in 2000; and
WHEREAS, The First Judicial District has a diverse constituency of over 1.4 million people, and First Judicial District Judges, administrators, and staff implement a wide range of innovative programmatic responses to meet the needs of a broad cross-section of people with varying concerns and interests; and
WHEREAS, Judge Frederica Massiah-Jackson began and spearheaded the “Best of the FJD,” a program that allowed the First Judicial District employees the opportunity to come together to celebrate their individuality and energetic spirit by voting on-line for the superlative employees among the First Judicial District; and
WHEREAS, The First Judicial District, under the supervision of Judge Frederica Massiah-Jackson, has created the information center which contains knowledgeable staff, computer terminals and pamphlets providing information relating to court cases, liens and other relevant court documents; and
WHEREAS, In 2005, Judge Frederica Massiah-Jackson helped introduce the first Urban Court Symposium to Philadelphia, where at a gathering of legal experts and practitioners, participants had the opportunity to engage in an examination and discussion of some of the many issues confronting urban jurisdictions today; and
WHEREAS, Through “Technology Day,” Judge Frederica Massiah-Jackson helped further the technology available to the different courts by exploring the technology available to other courts; now therefore
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That City Council Hereby Recognize, Honor, And Celebrate President Judge Frederica A. Massiah--Jackson -- On The Successful Completion Of Her Five-Year Term As The Head Of The First Judicial District.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to President Judge Frederica A. Massiah-Jackson as further evidencing the sincere admiration and gratitude of this legislative body.
