Title

Honoring and celebrating Anthony Glass for his outstanding work as a Legislative Director for the office of Councilmember Curtis Jones Jr. and wishing him luck with his future endeavors at The University of Notre Dame Law School.

 

Body

WHEREAS, Anthony Glass attended Archbishop Wood Catholic High School in Warminster, Pennsylvania. Anthony was on the TV Studio Morning News Cast and the Mock Trial Team, obtaining the titles of Best Attorney Award in 2018 and 2019 as well as Lead Prosecution Attorney in 2019. He was also President of the Archbishop Wood Ambassador Association from 2018-2019. Anthony graduated from Archbishop Wood Catholic High School in 2019; and

 

WHEREAS, Outside of school related extracurriculars, Anthony was a dedicated leader at the Resica Falls Scout Reservation and the Musser Scout Reservation. With his experience as an Eagle Scout, Anthony has made a remarkable impact on the lives of younger members of The Boy Scouts of America. His duties included Camp Staffer, Civics Director, Counselor, and Commissioner; and

 

WHEREAS, Anthony received his bachelor's degree in political science and government from Temple University in 2023. During his time at Temple, he worked as an Office Assistant at the tutoring center as well as an Owl Ambassador, where he gave tours of the campus to potential and incoming students. Anthony was a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars during his time in undergraduate studies; and

 

WHEREAS, In 2021, Anthony began his career in the political realm. His first political internship was with the office of United States Senator Pat Toomey. After, he secured a position as a Legislative Intern with the office of Councilmember Curtis Jones Jr. From there, Anthony began working his way up in the office, eventually reaching the title of Legislative Aide in 2022; and

 

WHEREAS, In January of 2023, Anthony began his full-time position as Legislative Director for Councilmember Curtis Jones Jr. In this role, Anthony has made his mark and continued to set the bar high in terms of professionalism, dedication, efficiency, and talent. His knowledge of the legislative system as well as his talent in crafting legislation is something to be marveled at. Some of his most notable legislative contributions include Bill No. 240010 which provided prohibitions on gambling machines and skill games in the City of Philadelphia. Also, Anthony’s contributions to the 2023 Crime Summit and the creation of the “Blueprint for a Safer Philadelphia” provided an impactful and methodical approach to improving public safety in Philadelphia; and

 

WHEREAS, In August 2024, Anthony will attend The University of Notre Dame Law School with the intent to become a prosecutor. The office of Councilmember Curtis Jones Jr. has the highest hopes for Anthony and is thrilled to keep up with his progress. He will be missed as a staff member, however, his indisputable potential as a prosecutor is widely supported by the staff. The office of Curtis Jones Jr. thanks Anthony for his dedication and contributions during his time as a staff member and wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavors; and

 

RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Honors and celebrates Anthony Glass for his outstanding work as a Legislative Director for the Philadelphia City Council and wishing him luck with his future endeavors at The University of Notre Dame Law School; now, therefore, be it.

 

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Anthony Glass as an expression of the sincere respect and awe of this legislative body.
