WHEREAS, Traci Noel Powell, born on December 24, 1980, to Andrea and William Powell Sr., arrived in this world as an early Christmas present who would bring the light, love, and joy of the season into every day of her extraordinary life; and

 

WHEREAS, Traci was nurtured and educated within the Philadelphia school systems, distinguishing herself early on as a bright scholar at The George Washington Carver High School for Engineering and Science, where she undertook Advanced Placement courses with academic curiosity and excellence, before continuing her studies at Drexel University with a major in Chemical Engineering; and

 

WHEREAS, Traci discovered her passion and purpose in the world of real estate, joining the family business at just 19 years old and, by 2003, becoming a licensed REALTOR, holding her loan originator license for over a decade, and ultimately launching her own successful brokerage firm in 2024, celebrating its grand opening just steps away from her childhood home with a joyful ribbon cutting at Fun Fest 2024; and

 

WHEREAS, Traci tirelessly served her community, helping hundreds of families find their dream homes, build generational wealth, and invest in their futures, all while advancing the values of financial empowerment and homeownership-particularly in Black communities-through public forums, mentorship, and her voice on the Black Wealth Project Podcast; and

 

WHEREAS, Traci was a respected industry leader and visionary who held key roles such as Vice President of Mosaic Brokerage Group and Director of Residential Sales, while receiving accolades that placed her among the top 4% of buyer agents and top 15% of sellers nationwide, including the prestigious “40 Under 40” award and a celebrated appearance on HGTV’s House Hunters; and

 

WHEREAS, Traci’s commitment to service extended far beyond her profession, as a proud Silver Star member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, serving both the Gamma Epsilon and Omega Omega chapters, a devoted member of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, and a board member of Inspiring Minds Philadelphia; and

 

WHEREAS, Traci’s heart for others, unwavering leadership, and unshakeable Philadelphia pride were evident in all she did, from her early days as a competitive swimmer with PDR Swim Club, to her advocacy for youth at the Germantown Boys and Girls Club, to her love for Eagles games, concerts, travel, and spending cherished time with family and friends; and

 

WHEREAS, Traci leaves behind a legacy of excellence, love, service, and unshakable faith in the power of community, survived by her loving parents Andrea and William Sr. (Tracey), her brothers William Jr. and Anthony Sr. (Dawn), nephews Anthony Jr. and Andrew, niece Avana, and a village of godfamily, relatives, sorority sisters, colleagues, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we pause to honor the remarkable life of Traci Noel Powell, celebrating her boundless spirit, tireless work, and profound impact on the lives of countless Philadelphians and beyond; and

 

FURTHER RESOLVED, that an Engrossed Copy of this Resolution be shared with her family as a lasting tribute to the enduring legacy of a daughter, sister, friend, mentor, and community leader whose light will forever shine in the city she so loved.
