Honoring Pastor Clement M. Lupton, III for his outstanding leadership, faithful service, and transformative impact upon the spiritual and civic life of the City of Philadelphia in recognition of Black History Month.

 

Body

WHEREAS, Pastor Clement M. Lupton, III, a native son of Philadelphia, began his spiritual journey at Deliverance Evangelistic Church under the mentorship of its Founding Pastor where he developed as a faithful servant and emerging leader; and

 

WHEREAS, Pastor Lupton faithfully served in numerous leadership roles at Deliverance Evangelistic Church, including Youth Leader for eleven years, Youth Pastor, Assistant Pastor of Worship Services, Pastor of Worship Services, member of the Executive Board, and Board member of Hope Plaza, Inc., demonstrating steadfast commitment to spiritual growth and community development; and

 

WHEREAS, In November 1996, Pastor Lupton was installed as Senior Pastor of Beloved St. John Evangelistic Church, guiding the congregation into a new era of growth and expansion; and

 

WHEREAS, Through Pastor Lupton’s inspired preaching and administration, the congregation relocated in 2004 to its current sanctuary at 4541 North Broad Street, constructed a large-capacity elevator debt free, and in 2010 celebrated the full payment of its mortgage, reflecting both spiritual and fiscal stewardship; and

 

WHEREAS, Pastor Lupton’s broadcast ministry, “Time of Decision,” has reached audiences locally and nationally through The WORD Network, WTVE, and other media outlets, extending the spiritual influence of Philadelphia beyond its borders; and

 

WHEREAS, Pastor Lupton has pursued academic preparation at Temple University’s School of Communication and Theatre and studied Urban Ministry at the Center for Urban Theological Studies at Geneva College, equipping himself to minister effectively in urban contexts; and

 

WHEREAS, Pastor Lupton’s leadership has resulted in impactful ministries such as the HIV/AIDS Care Ministry, the Single Mother’s Ministry, and the development of The Beloved House community center, reflecting his enduring commitment to faith in action; and

 

WHEREAS, In 2009, Pastor Lupton was honored by the Philadelphia Council of Clergy with the “Measure of a Man” Award, further affirming his integrity, character, and service; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That it hereby honors and recognizes Pastor Clement M. Lupton, III for his extraordinary spiritual leadership, unwavering commitment to community empowerment, and lasting contributions to the City of Philadelphia during Black History Month.
