Recognizing, Honoring, and Celebrating Double Lyte Posse Sportbike M/C of Pennsylvania – For their Invaluable Efforts, Community Involvement and their Pledge to always remember those that are Less Fortunate.

Body

WHEREAS, In 1994, on the Plateau in Fairmount Park, a small group of friends sharing the commonality of “the thrill of the ride,” decided to officially unite under the name of Double Lyte Posse (DLP); and

 

WHEREAS, Through this unofficial family tree a seed of philanthropy was planted and the group grew into a full-fledged campaign to give back; and

 

WHEREAS, Double Lyte Posse’s core commitment is “To Always Remember Those That Are Less Fortunate Than We Are”; and

 

WHEREAS, In 2006 at an Anti-Gun Rally in Harrisburg, Double Lyte Posse met Patricia Redmond, a conscientious philanthropist and the doors to more city involvement were opened; and

 

WHEREAS, Through this meeting, Double Lyte Posse, Patricia Redmond and Councilwoman Miller began targeting volunteer work in the Philadelphia Public School System’s Safe Corridor Project, helped with motorcades for funerals of child victims, Town Watch Integrated Services Programs… and the list goes on; and

 

WHEREAS, Double Lyte Posse received the Volunteer of the Year Award and will continue to participate in events such as: Philadelphia Aids Walk, Breast Cancer: walk for a cure, Stop the violence, Town Watch Integrated Services: national night out, Philadelphia Public Schools: truancy programs, Jena Six and the 10,000 Men:  a new day in Philadelphia; and

 

WHEREAS, Over the past thirteen years Double Lyte Posse has successfully grown in Membership and Community and Civic Affiliation; and

 

WHEREAS, Double Lyte Posse has pledged to remain steadfast in their determination to give and to see twice as much impact in their next thirteen years; now therefore

 

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That City Council Hereby Recognize, Honor, and Celebrate Double Lyte Posse Sportbike M/C of Pennsylvania – For their Invaluable Efforts, Community Involvement and their Pledge to always remember those that are Less Fortunate.

 

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Patricia Redmond and Harold Best, President of DLP as further evidences the sincere admiration and gratitude of this legislative body.
