Approving a Revision to the Presbyterian Village Institutional Development District (“IDD”) Master Plan.
Body
WHEREAS, Presbyterian Village, aka PresbyHomes and Services (“Presbyterian Village”), is a 38.57-acre site located at the southwest corner of 59th street and Kingsessing avenue in southwest Philadelphia and is zoned "Institutional Development District" (IDD); and
WHEREAS, Presbyterian Village is proposing an amendment to its "IDD" Master Plan which provides for the construction of two additions totaling 5,549 square feet to an existing senior citizen apartment building. This building is part of a life care senior citizen community and these additions are part of a renovation of one of the apartment structures. There will be a one-story addition and a six-story addition as part of this project; and
WHEREAS, Presbyterian Village has presented its expansion plan to neighboring residents; and
WHEREAS, The City Planning Commission has reviewed the "IDD" Master Plan amendment and approved the revision at its meeting of September 16, 2003; and
WHEREAS, Notice of the Planning Commission consideration and approval of the Master Plan revision was officially forwarded to City Council by the Planning Commission in a letter dated September 16, 2003; and
WHEREAS, Given the community support for this project, as well as the quality nursing care, the independent living units and the assisted living component provided by Presbyterian Village, City Council should approve this revision and notify the Planning Commission of its support so that Presbyterian Village can proceed as quickly as possible with this construction; now therefore
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That a revision to the Presbyterian Village “Institutional Development District” Master Plan, as approved by the Planning Commission at its meeting of September 16, 2003, is hereby approved.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Council President provide written notice to the City Planning Commission of the action Council has taken.
