Also naming the 700 block of 48th Street as “Sean Perretta Way” to honor the life and memory of Sean Perretta, Esquire, and his enduring contributions to the Mill Creek and West Philadelphia communities.

WHEREAS, Sean Perretta, Esquire, was a lifelong West Philadelphia resident who remained deeply rooted in the community where he was raised, including the neighborhood surrounding the 700 block of 48th Street; and
WHEREAS, Sean was a dedicated attorney who practiced commercial litigation and performed pro bono legal work, first as an associate at Schnader, Harrison, Segal & Lewis, and later by establishing his own office in his West Philadelphia home; and
WHEREAS, Beyond his legal career, Sean was passionately devoted to uplifting youth in his neighborhood, serving as a mentor, basketball coach, and positive role model whose presence inspired hope and encouraged excellence among young people; and
WHEREAS, Sean was instrumental in founding “Options for Opportunities” at the Youth Detention Center, helping first-time offenders find a path toward opportunity and redemption, and also served on the board of the National Black Child Development Institute alongside community partners; and
WHEREAS, Sean’s warmth, charisma, and generosity were widely recognized-friends and neighbors recount that one could not walk two blocks without hearing his name spoken with admiration, a testament to the countless lives he touched through friendship, mentorship, and leadership; and
WHEREAS, Also naming the 700 block of 48th Street as “Sean Perretta Way” would provide a permanent and meaningful public tribute to a man whose life exemplified service, leadership, and unwavering dedication to his community; and now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That the 700 block of 48th Street also be named “Sean Perretta Way” to honor the life and memory of Sean Perretta, Esquire, and his lasting impact on the Mill Creek and West Philadelphia communities.
