WHEREAS, Vincent “Mr. Vince” Termini Sr., the cherished owner of Termini Bros. Bakery and a lifelong South Philadelphian, passed away on October 4, 2025, at the age of 86, leaving behind an enduring legacy of family, faith, and community; and

 

WHEREAS, Founded in 1921 by his father Giuseppe “Joe” Termini and Uncle Gaetano Termini, Termini Bros. Bakery has stood for over a century as a Philadelphia institution, a cornerstone of South Philadelphia’s Italian American heritage, known for its world-famous cannoli, cookies, and confections; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Vince took over the family bakery in 1976, working side by side with his father until his passing in 1994. Under Mr. Vince’s leadership, Termini Bros. flourished and expanded to new locations, including Reading Terminal Market, while maintaining its old-world craftsmanship and neighborhood charm; and

 

WHEREAS, Known for his kindness, humor, and humility, Mr. Vince was notably seen greeting long lines of loyal customers each Christmas Eve outside the Eighth Street bakery, embodying the spirit of generosity and joy that defined both his business and his life; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Vince’s devotion to family was reflected in his 59-year marriage to his wife Barbara, his partnership with his sons Vince and Joe, and his love for his daughter Mariangela and six grandchildren, who now carry on his legacy of excellence and warmth; and

 

WHEREAS, Beyond the bakery, Mr. Vince created Mr. Joe’s Café in 2006, a heartfelt tribute to his father where he served traditional South Philadelphia Italian dishes to friends and neighbors, later reimagined by his sons as Nonna & Pop’s in honor of their parents; and

 

WHEREAS, His acts of kindness, community spirit, and commitment to preserving Philadelphia’s cultural traditions have touched countless lives and will continue to inspire generations to come; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF The CITY OF PHILADELPHA, Hereby honors and remembers the life and legacy of Vincent “Mr. Vince” Termini Sr., whose leadership, laughter, and love of community made Philadelphia a better place.

 

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this Resolution be presented to the Termini family as an expression of the sincere condolences of this legislative body.
