Recognizing, Honoring, And Celebrating The 20^th Anniversary Of The Greater Philadelphia Film Office – Which Has Done Such Excellent Work Attracting And Facilitating Film And TV Production In The Philadelphia Area.

WHEREAS, Since 1985, the film industry in the Greater Philadelphia region has experienced enormous growth; and

WHEREAS, The total economic impact from film and TV production attracted and facilitated by the Greater Philadelphia Film Office to the region since 1992 exceeds a billion dollars; and

WHEREAS, The Greater Philadelphia Film Office facilitated the production of TV Series such as Hack, Philly and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia; and also facilitated movie block busters such as: National Treasure, In Her Shoes, 12 Monkeys, The Italian Job, Unbreakable, The Sixth Sense, The Rocky Film Series and Philadelphia; and

WHEREAS, The Greater Philadelphia Film Office is a film commission representing Southeastern Pennsylvania that officially serves the counties of Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery; and

WHEREAS, The Greater Philadelphia Film Office serves to attract film video production to the region, including everything from feature films to TV commercials to music videos and industrial films; and

WHEREAS, The Greater Philadelphia Film Office provided the producer free assistance with parking, permits, hotels, labor, locations and generally acts as a liaison between the production and the local community, cutting red tape as they go; and

WHEREAS, The Greater Philadelphia Film Office serves to grow the local film and video industry in every way possible, recognizing its huge economic impact in job creation and its unparalleled public relations effect in the region; and

WHEREAS, The Greater Philadelphia Film Office meets the needs of local media artists and technicians through seminars, business and technical training to improve the skills of professionals that help launch careers; now therefore

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That City Council Hereby Recognize, Honor, And Celebrate The 20^th Anniversary Of The Greater Philadelphia Film Office – Which Has Done Such Excellent Work Attracting And Facilitating Film And TV Production In The Philadelphia Area.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to The Greater Philadelphia Film Office as further evidencing the sincere admiration and gratitude of this legislative body.
