Title
Approving the amended and restated redevelopment contract of the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Philadelphia for the redevelopment and urban renewal of a portion of the Franklin Town Project, designated as Parcel No. 12 and also sometimes identified by house number and street address for Parcel No. 12 as 1601 Vine street; and authorizing the Redevelopment Authority to execute the amended and restated redevelopment contract with Corporation of the Presiding Bishop of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and to take such action as may be necessary to effectuate the amended and restated redevelopment contract.
 
Body
            WHEREAS, The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Philadelphia (hereinafter "Redevelopment Authority") has prepared and submitted a redevelopment proposal for the redevelopment of the Franklin Town Project (hereinafter "Franklin Town"), which said proposal was approved by Ordinance of the Council on December 31, 1971, as amended; and
            WHEREAS, The Redevelopment Authority has prepared an amended and restated redevelopment contract for a portion of Franklin Town designated as Parcel No. 12 and also sometimes identified by house number and street address for Parcel No. 12 as 1601 Vine street (the “Property").  The area of the said Property is bounded as follows:
Parcel No. 12 (1601 Vine street).
ALL THAT CERTAIN tract or parcel of land and improvements thereon situate, lying and being in the 8th ward of the city and county of Philadelphia, state of Pennsylvania bounded and described in accordance with a survey and plan made by William E. Barton dated September 14, 1988 and retracted in a topographic survey of 1601 Vine street made by William B. Fahber, P.L.S. dated November 10, 2004, revised March 24, 2005 as follows, to wit:
BEGINNING at a point formed by the intersection of the northeasterly side of Franklintown boulevard (seventy feet wide) and the southeasterly side of 17th street (fifty six feet wide) said point being also the intersection of the rear sidewalk lines of Franklintown boulevard and 17th street; and running thence (1) extending from said point of beginning and running also said southeasterly side of 17th street north sixty eight degrees forty five minutes seventeen seconds east seventy four feet seven and one-eighth inches to its point of intersection with the southerly side of Wood street (forty feet wide) thence (2) along said southerly side of Wood street south seventy eight degrees fifty nine minutes zero seconds east four hundred fifteen feet eight inches to its point of intersection with the westerly side of 16th street (variable width) thence (3) along said westerly side of 16th street south eleven degrees twenty one minutes zero seconds west two hundred eleven feet four and three quarter inches to its point of intersection with the northerly side of Vine street (variable width) said point being also the intersection of the rear sidewalk lines of 16th street and Vine street; thence (4) along said northerly side of Vine street, north eighty degrees fifteen minutes thirty four seconds west three hundred sixty four feet two and one quarter inches to its point of intersection with the aforesaid northeasterly side of Franklintown boulevard, said point being also the intersection of the rear sidewalk lines of Vine street and Franklintown boulevard; thence (5) along said northeasterly side of Franklintown boulevard north twenty one degrees fourteen minutes forty three seconds west two hundred twelve feet, five and seven eighth inches to the point and place of beginning.
            The said amended and restated redevelopment contract is in substantial conformity with the amended redevelopment proposal approved by the Council; and
            WHEREAS, Corporation of the Presiding Bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (hereinafter "Redeveloper") desires to enter into the said amended and restated redevelopment contract for the Property.
            RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That the amended and restated redevelopment contract submitted by the Redevelopment Authority for the redevelopment of that portion of Franklin Town, as hereinabove more particularly described, is hereby approved.  City Council authorizes the Redevelopment Authority to proceed with minor changes in substantial conformity with the hereby approved amended and restated redevelopment contract.  The Redevelopment Authority is authorized to execute the hereby approved amended and restated redevelopment contract with Corporation of the Presiding Bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the “Redeveloper”).  The Redevelopment Authority and the Redeveloper are authorized to take such action in substantial conformity to the redevelopment contract as may be necessary to carry it out.
            RESOLVED, The Redevelopment Authority and the Redeveloper are authorized to prepare or cause to be prepared for introduction into the Council such ordinances or resolutions as may be necessary for changes into zoning, streets, alleys, public ways, street patterns, location and relocation of public utilities, and related items which are required in order to facilitate and effectuate the amended and restated redevelopment contract hereby approved. Upon their approval by the Redevelopment Authority, all Revised Concept Drawings shall be submitted to Philadelphia City Council for their approval by resolution.
