Recognizing, honoring and thanking Reverend Ed Hallinan for his dedication and contributions to St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, its parishioners, and the City of Philadelphia.

WHEREAS, For the past 14 years, Rev. Hallinan has served as pastor at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church at 23rd Street and Lehigh Avenue in North Philadelphia; and
WHEREAS, On June 19, Father Ed held his final mass in Philadelphia before moving to St. John of the Cross in Roslyn, PA; and
WHEREAS, As pastor at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, Father Ed ministered to his parishioners and gave selflessly so that many of them could have additional opportunities. He also provided spiritual and emotional comfort to those who needed support; and
WHEREAS, There are countless examples of Father Ed's good work and contributions to St. Martin de Porres and its parishioners; and
WHEREAS, Father Ed was always willing to help a parishioner as a friend whether it was through guidance or charitable offerings. He was able to find benefactors to donate to families whose means were not able to cover their needs. He personally assured that no child would be turned away from the parish school due to lack of finances and he helped raise enough money to make the school financially stable and independent with an endowment and board of committed supporters; and
WHEREAS, Father Ed will be missed by his parishioners, the St. Martin de Porres School, the surrounding community and the City of Philadelphia. However, his contributions, compassion, and energy will forever remain an integral part of St. Martin de Porres and the lives of the people that he touched; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That Council does hereby recognize, honor, and thank Reverend Ed Hallinan for his dedication and contributions to St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, its parishioners, and the City of Philadelphia.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Reverend Ed Hallinan as evidence of the sincere sentiments and recognition of this legislative body.
