Title

Approving  an amendment to the redevelopment contract and disposition supplement of the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Philadelphia for the redevelopment and urban renewal of an additional portion of the Model Cities Urban Renewal Area, by including an additional property designated as Parcel No. 300 also sometimes identified by house number and street address for as 1922-1924 North Seventh street; and authorizing the Redevelopment Authority to execute the amended redevelopment contract with Pradera Corporation and to take such action as may be necessary to effectuate the amended redevelopment contract.

Body

                     WHEREAS, The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Philadelphia (hereafter "Redevelopment Authority") has prepared and submitted an urban renewal plan and a redevelopment proposal for the redevelopment of the Model Cities Urban Renewal Area, which said plan and  proposal were approved by Ordinance of the Council on December 15, 1969, as amended; and

 

                     WHEREAS, The Redevelopment Authority has prepared a redevelopment contract and disposition supplement with Pradera Corporation (hereafter “Redeveloper”) for a portion of Model Cities, designated as Parcel Nos. 220, 221, 222, 223, 224, 225, 226, 227, 228, 229, 230, 231, 232, 234, 235, 236, 237, 238, 239, 240, 241, 242, 243, 244 & 245 also sometimes identified by respective house numbers and street addresses for Parcel No. 220 as 1917 North Eighth street, for Parcel No. 221 as 1916 North Franklin street, for Parcel No. 222 as 1925-1927 North Eighth street, for Parcel No. 223 as 1922-1924 North Franklin street, for Parcel No. 224 as 1933 North Eighth street, for Parcel No. 225 as 1930-1932 North Franklin street, for Parcel No. 226 as 707-709 West Berks street, for Parcel No. 227 as 713-723 West Berks street, for Parcel No. 228 as 701-703 West Berks street, for Parcel No. 229 as 1937 North Eighth street, for Parcel No. 230 as 1938-1940 North Franklin street, for Parcel No. 231 as 1717-1731 North Franklin street, for Parcel No. 232 as 1901-1905 North Eighth street, for Parcel No. 233 as 1908-1910 North Franklin street, for Parcel No. 234 as 1909-1913 North Eighth street, for Parcel No. 235 as 1944 North Franklin street, for Parcel No. 236 as 730-736 West Norris street, for Parcel No. 237 as 726 West Norris street, for Parcel No. 238 as 720 West Norris street, for Parcel No. 239 as 1947 North Eighth street, for Parcel No. 240 as 1907-1911 North Franklin street, for Parcel No. 241 as 1915-1919 North Franklin street, for Parcel No. 242 as 1929-1939 North Franklin street, for Parcel No. 243 as 1735 North Franklin street, for Parcel No. 244 as 1707-1709 North Franklin street and for Parcel No. 245 as 1713 North Franklin street which said redevelopment contract and disposition supplement were approved by Resolution No. 010138 adopted by the Council of the City of Philadelphia on March 1, 2001 ; and

 

                     WHEREAS, The Redevelopment Authority has prepared an amendment to the redevelopment contract and disposition supplement for the redevelopment and urban renewal of an additional portion of the Model Cities Urban Renewal Area, by including an additional property designated as Parcel No. 300 also sometimes  identified by house number and street address as 1922-1924 North Seventh street (hereinafter "Additional Property”).  The area of the said Additional Property is bounded as follows:

 

Parcel No. 300 (1922-1924 North Seventh street).

 

ALL THAT CERTAIN lot or piece of ground located in the Twentieth Ward of the City of Philadelphia situated at a point on the westerly side of North Seventh street (fifty feet wide) at a distance of one hundred eighty five feet six and one-quarter inches northward from the northerly side of Berks street (fifty feet wide);  Containing in front or breadth on said Seventh street fifty feet and extending of that width in length or depth westward on the southerly line thereof a distance of one hundred sixty eight feet ten and three-quarters inches and on the northerly line thereof a distance of one hundred sixty seven feet eight and one-half inches to the easterly side of Franklin street (fifty feet wide).

 

                     The said redevelopment contract, as herein amended, is in substantial conformity with the urban renewal plan and the redevelopment proposal approved by the Council; and

 

                     WHEREAS, Redeveloper desires to enter into the said amendment to redevelopment contract to include the Additional Property.

 

                     RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That the amendment to the redevelopment contract and disposition supplement submitted by the Redevelopment Authority for the redevelopment of that additional portion of the Model Cities Urban Renewal Area, designated as Parcel No. 300 also sometimes identified as 1922-1924 North Seventh street and as hereinabove more particularly described, is hereby approved.  City Council authorizes the Redevelopment Authority to proceed with minor changes in substantial conformity with the hereby approved redevelopment contract, as amended.  The Redevelopment Authority is authorized to execute the hereby approved amendment to the redevelopment contract with the Redeveloper.  The Redevelopment Authority and the Redeveloper are authorized to take such action in substantial conformity to the amendment to the redevelopment contract as may be necessary to carry it out.

 

                     RESOLVED, The Redevelopment Authority and the Redeveloper are authorized to prepare or cause to be prepared for introduction into the Council such ordinances or resolutions as may be necessary for changes in zoning, streets, alleys, public ways, street patterns, location and relocation of public utilities, and related items which are required in order to facilitate and effectuate the redevelopment contract, as amended and hereby approved.  Accordingly, the Council hereby declares that it will cooperate in helping to carry out the redevelopment contract, as amended,  and requests the various officials, departments, boards and agencies of the City having administrative responsibilities in the premises likewise to cooperate to such end and to exercise their respective functions and powers in a manner consistent with the redevelopment contract and disposition supplement, as amended.
