WHEREAS, Kada Scott was a proud daughter of Philadelphia, known for her joyful personality, entrepreneurial drive, and unwavering love for her family and community; and
WHEREAS, Kada was educated in the City of Philadelphia and went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts in Communications, Liberal Arts and Sciences from The Pennsylvania State University (Penn State); and
WHEREAS, While pursuing her studies, Kada exemplified remarkable leadership and ambition-founding and operating K$ Beauty Facial Spa in Mt. Airy at just nineteen years old, demonstrating her vision, determination, and commitment to empowering others through beauty, self-care, and entrepreneurship; and
WHEREAS, Kada’s family and friends remember her as a caring, joyful, and determined young woman-a caring and laid-back person who didn’t have enemies, and someone who never let anything stop her from doing what she truly wanted to do; her loved ones encourage all to remember her name, remember her smile, and remember what she lived for; and
WHEREAS, Her aunt lovingly recalls that Kada had the brightest smile and the most beautiful dimples-you just couldn’t say no to that face. Her sweetness and soft voice could melt anyone’s heart, leaving an imprint of love and warmth wherever she went; and
WHEREAS, Kada was a natural storyteller whose creativity and curiosity shone through everything she did-she loved to vlog family gatherings, capturing joy in everyday moments, and often took thoughtful notes about her loved ones so she could gift them something that truly reflected who they were; and
WHEREAS, Kada was known for her gift of encouragement and her ability to speak life into others, often sharing positive affirmations and reminding those around her of their worth and potential; and
WHEREAS, Her godmother described her as wise beyond her years, reminded her during difficult times to try not to think about her day because she would never have it again-words that reflect the gratitude and presence with which Kada lived her life; and
WHEREAS, A creative visionary, Kada was passionate about self-expression and dreamed of making the world her runway-she was beyond talented, teaching herself photography, designing fashion, reading voraciously, and finding beauty and peace in nature. One thing she especially loved was to touch the grass, grounding herself in life’s simple joys; and
WHEREAS, Kada proudly earned the title of Miss Philadelphia, a moment that reflected her poise, confidence, and grace. Despite her nerves before rehearsal and keeping it a secret from her family, she went on to win-surprising them all and showing that faith, courage, and preparation can lead to extraordinary achievement; and
WHEREAS, Kada embodied the spirit of a new generation of Black women leaders - educated, visionary, and driven by both faith and purpose - leaving a lasting impression on those who knew her and inspiring others to pursue their dreams with courage and compassion; and
WHEREAS, The City of Philadelphia proudly honors Kada Scott as a symbol of light, love, and possibility, and recognizes the beauty of her example as a reminder of what can be achieved through hard work, creativity, and community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA honors the life and legacy of Kada Scott, celebrating her enduring spirit, her service to others, and her remarkable example of excellence, entrepreneurship, and grace; and
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Kada Scott as an expression of Philadelphia City Council’s respect, admiration, and enduring solidarity with all who carry forward her legacy.
