Honoring Carroll Park Community Council, Incorporated for Thirty Years of outstanding service to the residents of West Philadelphia in general and to the residents of Carroll Park specifically.
Body
WHEREAS, Carroll Park Community Council was incorporated in 1977 as a (NAC) Neighborhood Advisory Committee, under the Office of Housing and Community Development; and
WHEREAS, Carroll Park Community Council, Incorporated provides assistance and information to the Carroll Park residents on issues related to housing, health education, parenting, and other aspects of economic development; and
WHEREAS, The mission of Carroll Park is to provide direct services, information, referrals and counseling, and when necessary, advocacy, to bridge the gap of broadening economic and social disparity in the West Philadelphia area in general - and in Carroll Park specifically; and
WHEREAS, Carroll Park Community Council, Incorporated continues to lead by example in the information and referral services among non-profit community based organizations, through the community, with an emphasis on housing issues and neighborhood planning; and
WHEREAS, Carroll Park Community Council, Incorporated operates a food bank, The Food Cupboard, which supplies food to over 500 people/families a month; and
WHEREAS, Since 1998 Carroll Park Community Council, Incorporated has provided mortgage counseling, financial literacy and mortgage default and delinquency assistance, pre and post mortgage counseling, tenancy rights information, advocacy and predatory lending counseling and first time homebuyers and homeowners workshops; and
WHEREAS, Carroll Park Community Council, Incorporated is a Neighborhood Energy Center applying residents for the LIHEAP and CRISIS Grants; Weatherization Applications, Water Conservation Program, Grandom Oil and Utility Emergency Services Fund (UESF); now therefore
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby honor Carroll Park Community Council, Incorporated for Thirty Years of outstanding service to the residents of West Philadelphia in general - and to the residents of Carroll Park specifically.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolutions be presented to Vanessa Kirklynne Williams, President of the Board, as evidence of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body.
