Honoring the Career of Kaki Gladstone.

WHEREAS, The Council of the City of Philadelphia is pleased and proud to honor Ms. Kaki Gladstone for her over 45 years of service to the Philadelphia Museum of Art (Art Museum) and the citizens and institutions of the City of Philadelphia through her outstanding career; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Gladstone studied Art History at Wilson College and began her career at the University of Pennsylvania's Museum of Archeology and Anthropology; and
WHEREAS, On March 5th, 1964, Ms. Gladstone began her Art Museum career as a Secretary to the Weekday and Weekend Guide, and her work and service in this position led to the formation of the Art Museum's Department of Volunteer Services; and
WHEREAS, Since the creation of this department, Ms. Gladstone has been the Manager of Volunteer Services, where she has trained, organized, and managed the work of 686 Weekday Guides, Weekend Guides, Park House Guides, Membership Volunteers, Departmental Volunteers, and Interns who interact with the public on a daily basis, providing countless tours and education programs; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Gladstone has worked to make the Art Museum's extraordinary collections accessible to all audiences and communities of this City, as well as tourists from around the world, thereby contributing in countless ways to the positive experiences of many millions of visitors to the Art Museum and to the positive reputation of Philadelphia internationally; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Gladstone has helped make the Art Museum a world-class institution, serving under five Museum Directors, including Henri Marceau, Evan Turner, Interim Director Arnold Jolles, Jean Sutherland Boggs, Anne d'Harnoncourt, Interim CEO Gail Harrity, and Timothy Rub; now therefore be it
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby recognize and congratulate Ms. Kaki Gladstone for her over 45 years of service to the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the citizens and institutions of the City of Philadelphia through her outstanding career.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Ms. Kaki Gladstone, as evidence of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body, and we applaud her decision to continue to serve the Art Museum as a volunteer.
