Honoring and Recognizing Mr. Glenn Ellis, Sr. for His Accomplishments in and Service to the Field of Medicine and Public Health Education.

WHEREAS, Mr. Glenn Ellis, Sr. is an internationally respected health educator, author and medicine consultant with a life-long commitment to improving the quality of life for others; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Glenn Ellis, Sr. is a Birmingham, Alabama native and attended the University of Pennsylvania's pre-med program prior to continuing on at the International College of Bio-Dynamics and the Atlantic Academy of Classical Homeopathy; and
WHEREAS, Philadelphians have tuned in to his weekly radio broadcasts and commentary, where Mr. Ellis, Sr. provides health conscious, medical information and highlights health disparities and ethics; and
WHEREAS, He publishes a weekly web health column for EURweb.com which reaches over 1.4 million readers and is a frequent contributor to Real Health Magazine, Healthy Living, and the Black Aids Institute Newsletter; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Glenn Ellis, Sr. serves on many boards including the Institutional Review Board and the Ethics Committee of Mercy Health Systems in Philadelphia; and
WHEREAS, He serves as a health policy advisor to the Chairman of the Pennsylvania Black Legislative Caucus, and more recently also began serving as a Board Member of Communities in Schools in Philadelphia; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Glenn Ellis, Sr. was a Borough Councilman in Yeadon, PA until 2001, serving as Chair of the Public Health and Safety Committee; and
WHEREAS, In addition to the above accomplishments and his exemplary service, Mr. Ellis, Sr. is currently the President of Strategies for Well Being, LLC, a health education and consulting company headquartered in Philadelphia, where he consults corporate clients on promoting and providing health education for consumers and providers; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Glenn Ellis, Sr. is above all a man of high integrity, intelligence, and honor; now therefore be it
RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Honors and recognizes Glenn Ellis for his accomplishments in and service to the field of medicine and public health education.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented as a sincere expression of City Council's appreciation and recognition.
