Congratulating and commending Mount Airy Bantams on winning the 1999 Keystone State Football League Championship in the 105 Lb. Weight Division.

WHEREAS, On December 5, 1999, the Mount Airy Bantams won the 1999 Keystone State Football League Championship in its 105 Lb. Weight

Division by defeating the Oak Lane Wildcats; and

 

WHEREAS, Both teams played hard and tight football. The game began with a long Mt. Airy drive setup by a 45-yard pass from QB Tyrone Holt to SE Marvin “Terrell” Rogers. An interception which FS Arthur Johnson returned twenty yards for an apparent touchdown was called back for clipping. At the end of the first quarter, the score was 0-0; and  

 

WHEREAS, Oak Lane broke the scoreless tie with a 55-yard touchdown run just seconds before halftime. For the first time all year, Mt. Airy was behind. The second half began with a 65 yard scoring drive by the Bantams, punctuated with a five-yard touchdown run by RB Nasir Yard. On 2nd down, a play action pass to the Tight End in the middle of the field gave Oak Lane the lead once again; and

 

WHEREAS, The fourth quarter ended with a tie and the game went into overtime. Oak lane won the toss and had a chance to draw first blood. Mt. Airy took two plays to notch its first 105 LB Championship. Anchored by a great offensive line - guards Tyrice “Grasshopper” Minnick and Ramon Taft, tackles Nathaniel Williams and Branden Peaker and center Clinton Taylor – RB Nasir Yard scored the 5-yard game runner on a crossbuck off right tackle; now therefore

 

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby congratulate the Mount Airy Bantams on winning the 1999 Keystone State Football League Championship in the 105 Lb. Weight Division. Each and every member of the team has contributed to this victory through diligence, discipline, teamwork and the determined will to win. We commend the team: head coach Earl Morgan and assistant coaches Mark McNeil and Moss Carter on their outstanding success.   Under their direction and guidance, The Mount Airy Bantams football team has excelled in both team spirit and athletic excellence.

 

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution shall be presented to the champion Mount Airy Bantams and Coach Earl Morgan further evidencing the sincere sentiments and high commendation of this legislative body.
