WHEREAS, Manayunk Park was renovated in the 1960s and has recently undergone an impressive revitalization spurred by the dedication of volunteers from the Friends of Pretzel Park, increased commitment by the Department of Recreation, and grant funds and technical assistance from the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society; and

WHEREAS, A variety of community events are now hosted in the renovated park, such as Earth Day, Arbor Day, summer concerts and neighborhood picnics; and

WHEREAS, While officially called "Manayunk Park" by city records, the park has always been referred to as "Pretzel Park" by the residents, users and neighbors due to the arrangement and design of the walkways that loop and cross the site in a manner that resembles a pretzel; and

WHEREAS, The residents have requested that the park be officially renamed to this neighborhood moniker; now therefore

THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA HEREBY ORDAINS:
