Honoring the Nu-Juice Foundation for its dedicated service and commitment to the people of Philadelphia as exemplified through the “Keepin’ It Real Tour.”

WHEREAS, The Nu-Juice Foundation is a Philadelphia non-profit organization that has been working with disadvantaged community youth and their families to help them care about their future; and
WHEREAS, The Nu-Juice Foundation is an advocate for the community and believes it must educate the youth between the ages of 13 and 18 through self-motivation techniques that include real-life experiences; and
WHEREAS, The Nu-Juice Foundation seeks to teach real-life experiences that can encourage and create a positive workforce among our youth for the future because at least 50% of our urban youth dropout as early as the 9th grade in the Philadelphia Public School system; and
WHEREAS, The Nu-Juice Foundation seeks to provide students with the necessary preparation to become economically independent and self-sufficient leaders in their community; and
WHEREAS, Nu-Juice Foundation is the founder of the Keepin’ It Real Tour, a television show that travels among the different city high schools to educate our school’s youth about career possibilities; and
WHEREAS, The Keepin’ It Real Tour plans to visit every public school in the city; and utilize role models and entertainers such as E. Steven Collins of TV/Radio One, Keiwana McKinney of Galaxy Enterprises and Marla Davis of the Pennsylvania Department of Health who will discuss career opportunities and successes in their own life; and
WHEREAS, The Tour will be recorded and available through Comcast for the purpose of expanding the message to our inner-city youth; now therefore
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby recognize and congratulate Eric Ward, Shareef Ward, Jerome Chaney and Ed Duckson of Nu-Juice Foundation for their outstanding community service and urge other role models and entertainers to participate in the Tour’s lineup.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to the representatives of the Nu-Juice Foundation and its Keepin’ It Real Tour as a symbol of this legislative body’s support for its work and commitment to help African-American youth to stay in school and pursue a successful future.
