Title

Approving  the redevelopment contract of the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Philadelphia for the redevelopment and urban renewal of a portion of the East Venango Industrial Urban Renewal Area designated as Parcel No. 5 also sometimes identified by respective house number and street address as 2901-2925 East Victoria street; and authorizing the Redevelopment Authority to execute the redevelopment contract with Nello Construction Company, Inc. and to take such action as may be necessary to effectuate the redevelopment contract.

                     WHEREAS, The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Philadelphia (hereafter "Redevelopment Authority") has prepared and submitted an urban renewal plan and a redevelopment proposal for the redevelopment of the East Venango Industrial Urban Renewal Area, which said plan and  proposal were approved by Ordinance of the Council on March 15, 1977; and

 

                     WHEREAS, The Redevelopment Authority has prepared a redevelopment contract for a portion of the East Venango Industrial Urban Renewal Area, designated as Parcel No. 5 also sometimes identified by house number and street address as 2901-2925 East Victoria street (hereinafter "Parcel 5”).  The area of said Parcel 5 is bounded as follows:

 

Parcel No. 5 (2901-2925 East Victoria street).

 

ALL THOSE CERTAIN lots or pieces of ground situate in the Forty-fifth Ward of the City of Philadelphia beginning at a point at the intersection of the northwesterly side of Bath street (fifty feet wide) and the northeasterly side of Victoria street (forty feet wide); Thence extending northeastward along the northwesterly side of Bath street (stricken from the City Plan and vacated, fifty feet wide), and said line projected crossing the bed of the former Pacific street, (stricken from the City Plan and vacated), two hundred one feet four and three-quarters inches to a point on the northeasterly side of former Pacific street; thence extending in a southeastward direction along the northeasterly side of former Pacific street, crossing the bed of former Bath street, one hundred three feet five inches to a point; thence extending southwestward along a line at right angles to former Pacific street, twenty five feet to a point on the center-line of former Pacific street; thence extending southeastward along the centerline of former Pacific street one hundred fifty feet seven inches to a point; thence extending in a southwestward direction along a line at right angles to former Pacific street one hundred seventy six feet four and three-quarters inches to a point on the northeasterly side of Victoria street; thence extending in a northwestward direction along the northeasterly side of Victoria street, and said line projected, crossing the bed of former Bath street, two hundred fifty four feet to the first mentioned point and place of beginning; Under and subject to a right-of-way for gas main purposes within the bed of former Pacific street and a right-of-way for drainage purposes and gas main purposes within the bed of former Bath street.

 

                     The said redevelopment contract is in substantial conformity with the urban renewal plan and the  redevelopment proposal approved by the Council; and

 

                     WHEREAS, Nello Construction Company, Inc. desires to enter into the said redevelopment contract for Parcel 5.

 

                     RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That the redevelopment contract submitted by the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Philadelphia (hereinafter "Redevelopment Authority") for the redevelopment of Parcel 5, as hereinabove more particularly described, is hereby approved.  City Council authorizes the Redevelopment Authority to proceed with minor changes in substantial conformity with the hereby approved redevelopment contract.  The Redevelopment Authority is authorized to execute the hereby approved redevelopment contract with Nello Construction Company, Inc.  (hereinafter "Redeveloper").  The Redevelopment Authority and the Redeveloper are authorized to take such action in substantial conformity to the redevelopment contract as may be necessary to carry it out.

 

                     RESOLVED, The Redevelopment Authority and the Redeveloper are authorized to prepare or cause to be prepared for introduction into the Council such ordinances or resolutions as may be necessary for changes in zoning, streets, alleys, public ways, street patterns, location and relocation of public utilities, and related items which are required in order to facilitate and effectuate the redevelopment contract and disposition supplement hereby approved.  Accordingly, the Council hereby declares that it will cooperate in helping to carry out the redevelopment contract  and requests the various officials, departments, boards and agencies of the City having administrative responsibilities in the premises likewise to cooperate to such end and to exercise their respective functions and powers in a manner consistent with the redevelopment contract.
