Honoring Brenda Frazier-Clemons, Esquire.

WHEREAS, Brenda Frazier-Clemons, who has faithfully and effectively served Philadelphia City Council since January 1988 as Chief Legislative Aide to 9th District Councilwoman Marian B. Tasco, is retiring and soon will make her formal announcement to campaign for the office of Judge of Common Pleas Court; and

 

WHEREAS, Brenda received her Bachelor of Arts from Rutgers University; her Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Chicago, 1962, (Ford Foundation Fellow); her Diploma de Doctorado, Ph.D., 1965 (Fulbright Fellow); University of Pennsylvania, Summer Seminar for College Teachers  and earned her Juris Doctor at Temple University School of Law in 1987; and

                     

WHEREAS, In addition to legalese, Brenda is fluent in several romance languages and has accumulated a wealth of academic and administrative experience as Assistant Professor of Spanish and Director of Undergraduate Studies, and Assistant Dean for Educational Affairs, Howard University, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences; Assistant Professor of Spanish and Methodology of Teaching Languages, Rutgers University, Department of Spanish and Portuguese; Assistant Professor of Spanish, University of Dayton and Assistant Professor of Spanish, Howard University; and

 

WHEREAS, Brenda is a member of Leadership, Inc., National Bar Association Barristers Association, Philadelphia Bar Association, American Bar Association, United Negro College Fund and serves on the Board of Directors at Pennsylvania Prison Society, St. Barnabas’ Episcopal School, Dr. Warren E. Smith MH/MR Center and Theater International Exchange; and

 

WHEREAS, Previous legal and law-related experience were gained with the Central Intelligence Agency, Metropolitan Police Department, Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia (law clerk to Judge Theodore A. McKee) and the U. S. Attorney’s Office Civil Division Legal Intern Collection Unit; now therefore

 

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we proudly honor Brenda Frazier-Clemons, Esquire, on her incredible achievements and outstanding accomplishments.  Brenda is a highly polished individual who has served the Council and her Councilwoman with dedication and commitment.  We wish her well in her judicial endeavor, and we echo praises for her untiring work and professional excellence in drafting legislation, planning committee hearings and meetings with constituents and lobbyists amid all the other legislative duties.

 

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Brenda Frazier-Clemons, Esquire, further evidencing the sincere sentiments, high esteem and best of luck in her campaign.
