Honoring Turner Construction Company as it Celebrates 100 Years in Philadelphia.

WHEREAS,                     Turner Construction Company will commemorate the firm’s 100th anniversary of building in Philadelphia on April 28, 2007 and

 

WHEREAS,                     Turner first opened its doors and began shaping the skyline and community of Philadelphia in 1907 and has successfully built over 1,000 area projects; and

 

WHEREAS,                     Turner construction projects include Lincoln Financial Field, The Cira Centre, The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), Temple University Hospital, the Bell Atlantic Tower, Mellon Bank Center, Strawbridge & Clothier Flagship Store, the Four Seasons Hotel, Philadelphia Electric Company’s Headquarters, the Commerce Square One and Two, 10 and 11 Penn Center, as well as multiple projects for the University of Pennsylvania, including Franklin Field; and

 

WHEREAS,                     Turner has completed more than $350 million of construction and builds these exciting projects in the Philadelphia area while maintaining a commitment to the communities in the area; and

 

WHEREAS,                     Turners commitment to the community is evidenced by it having, among other things, contracted with M/WBEs across the country in excess of $14 billion, establishing the Turner School of Construction Management Program, establishing the Youth Force 20/20 Program, and sponsoring the ACE Mentoring Program in Philadelphia; and

 

WHEREAS,                     Turner is recognized as a leader in the industry, and is dedicated to the core values of Teamwork, Integrity, and Commitment; and

 

WHEREAS,                     Through the efforts of 230 talented staff in the firm’s Philadelphia office, and the support of 5,700 employees nation-wide, Turner will continue to embrace the company’s heritage of delivering the highest level of service in the industry; now therefore

 

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That Turner Construction Company be honored as it Celebrates 100 Years in Philadelphia; and

 

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Turner Construction Company.
