Congratulating the North Philadelphia Aztec Youth Football Team on winning the 2004 Pop Warner Division II Jr. Pee Wee Tomlin Superbowl Championship.

WHEREAS, The North Philadelphia Youth Association (NPYA) is a non-profit organization whose objective is to offer positive activities for underprivileged, urban
youth residing in North Philadelphia; and
WHEREAS, With the help of many volunteers from our community the NPYA has successfully run the North Philadelphia Aztecs Youth Football and Cheerleading Program for eleven consecutive years; and
WHEREAS, The Aztecs on their first trip to the Pop Warner Superbowl Championship were victorious over the Huntington Beach Chargers in the Division II Jr. Pee Wee Tomlin Championship game; and
WHEREAS, In this game, it only took the Aztecs two plays to put their first points on the board with a 65-yard run; and
WHEREAS, After the Aztecs defense picked off a Charger pass attempt, the offense showed its half back’s speed and scored on a 40-yard run to the end zone; and
WHEREAS, The Aztecs continued their offensive strike as the quarterback scored the third touchdown on 21-yard keeper run to the left; and
WHEREAS, Despite the Chargers first score, the Aztecs offense stayed aggressive and scored on a 42-yard run up the middle and completed the extra point to take the score to 25-7; and
WHEREAS, As the Chargers looked primed to make another offensive strike, the Aztecs’ defense showed how they can make big plays and intercepted the ball, which set up the final Aztec scoring drive that culminated with a 15-yard pass and run into the end zone; and
WHEREAS, The final score was Aztecs 32 and Chargers 13; now therefore
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we congratulate the North Philadelphia Aztec Youth Football Team on winning the 2004 Pop Warner Division II Jr. Pee Wee Tomlin Superbowl Championship.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to coaches and members of the North Philadelphia Aztec Youth Football Team as evidence of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body.
