Recognizing, Honoring, And Celebrating  Chestnut Hill - For receiving the Prestigious National Trust for Historic Preservation's Dozen Distinctive Destinations for 2010.

WHEREAS, The Dozen Distinctive Destinations® program recognizes unique cities and towns across the country working to preserve their historic character, promote heritage tourism, enhance their community and encourage others to enjoy all they have to offer; and
 
WHEREAS, Each year since 2000, the National Trust for Historic Preservation has selected 12 destinations from across the country that offer authentic visitor experiences by combining dynamic downtowns, diverse cultural activities, attractive architecture, and a strong commitment to historic preservation, sustainability and revitalization; and
 
WHEREAS, Chestnut Hill was chosen because it provides an authentic experience, a dynamic downtown, a commitment to preservation, a green ethic and a heritage tourism infrastructure; and
 
WHEREAS, The Historic character and charm, the variety of activities and its appeal to individuals, couples and families makes Chestnut Hill a glowing example of what Philadelphia can and should be; and
 
WHEREAS, The title of 2010 Dozen Distinctive Destination helps promote “Chestnut Hill” Philadelphia through the National Trust for Historic Preservation web site, which receives over 200,000 visitors a month, and an entire web page dedicated to Chestnut Hill; and
 
WHEREAS, Chestnut Hill “Philadelphia” will be featured in a story about the Distinctive Destinations in Preservation Magazine; and
 
WHEREAS,  NEW THIS YEAR - THE POPULAR VOTE! Which allows the public to vote on a "fan favorite" from among the 12 selected destinations.

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That City Council Hereby Recognize, Honor, And Celebrate Chestnut Hill - For Receiving the Prestigious National Trust for Historic Preservation's Dozen Distinctive Destinations for 2010.
 
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to the Chestnut Hill Business Association as further evidencing the sincere admiration and gratitude of this legislative body.
