WHEREAS, Bernice Corean Wilcox was born on February 24th, 1943, in Philadelphia to Mrs. Bernice and Mr. Glenwood Brooks Sr. She grew up in the Richard Allen Homes of North Philadelphia and was a member of St. Paul's Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, A proud graduate of the Philadelphia School System, Bernice completed her education at West Philadelphia High School, where she was a member of the Class of 1961; and
WHEREAS, Bernice dedicated 36 years to the United States Postal Service, rising from clerk to management. Her exceptional work ethic, leadership, and expertise in numbers and technology earned her the respect and admiration of colleagues, and she retired after years of devoted service; and
WHEREAS, Bernice was a devoted mother to her daughters, Jennifer and Natalie, nurturing them with unwavering love. In 1981, she married her soulmate, Joseph Wilcox, and warmly embraced his daughter, Marguerita Wilcox, as her own. Together, Bernice and Joeseph built a life filled with love, mutual respect, and lasting joy, establishing memories and a strong bond through life's ups and downs; and
WHEREAS, Bernice was raised with a host of loving siblings including Dr. Glenwood Brooks, the Honorable Jannie L. Blackwel, and Patricia Bantom, who survive her; and
WHEREAS, Known for her resilience, kindness, and generosity, Bernice created a home filled with love for her family, always putting others first and leaving an indelible impact on her children, grandchildren, and all those she encountered; and
