Honoring, commending and celebrating Whitemarsh Township on their 300th Anniversary.

WHEREAS, Whitemarsh Township, which borders Philadelphia County, has been an excellent municipal neighbor since the days of the Revolution; and
WHEREAS, Whitemarsh Township's rich history and heritage has been preserved for three centuries; and
WHEREAS, In 1693, William Penn ordered Limekiln Pike, one of the first roads in the area, be built from the Port of Delaware, through Philadelphia to Whitemarsh Township; and
WHEREAS, Whitemarsh Township's slogan, Our Living Past . . . Our Growing Future, is a testament to the shared vision of the surrounding communities; now therefore
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That this resolution hereby honors, commends and celebrates Whitemarsh Township on its 300th Anniversary; and
FURTHER RESOLVED, That Engrossed copies of this resolution be prepared to present to Whitemarsh Township as evidence of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body.
