Title
Honoring the Frankford Community Development Corporation on its tenth year of service to the Frankford Community.
Body
WHEREAS, The Frankford Community Development Corporation (FCDC) was founded in 1993 by the Frankford Group Ministry to implement the Frankford plan for revitalization through real estate and economic development; and
 
WHEREAS, FCDC has worked to increase Frankford's self-reliance through housing and economic development initiatives particularly in East and Southwest Frankford; and
 
WHEREAS, Since its inception, FCDC has built and sold 43 new homes, rehabilitated 45 vacant homes, developed a fifty unit apartment house for seniors, managed the Frankford Special Services District, assisted over 800 individuals in seeking employment and assisted 1200 individuals seeking their first home; and
 
WHEREAS, FCDC is currently working on new construction projects at Gillingham Court and Frankford Creek, the creation of twenty four senior citizen apartments at Griscom Street Apartments and renovation of the Federal Bank building; and
 
WHEREAS, FCDC provides many other services to the community including housing and career counseling and providing small grants to businesses in the community; now therefore
 
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we honor FCDC on the occasion of its Tenth Anniversary; and
 
RESOLVED FURTHER, That we recognize the many accomplishments of FCDC and wish them continued success in the future; and
 
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Steve Culbertson, Executive Director of FCDC as evidence of the sincere respect and admiration of this legislative body.
