Honoring Aaron McKie for all his contributions to the 76ers, and to the City of Philadelphia, and wishing him many more years of success in future endeavors.
Body
WHEREAS, Aaron was born and raised in Philadelphia and attended Simon Gratz High School, where in his senior year led the team to a Public League Championship and a 26-4 record; and
 
WHEREAS, Aaron attended Temple University where he was awarded many honors including being named Associated Press Honorable Mention All America, First Team All Atlantic 10, the A-10 All-Tournament Team, and also tied for sixth for Temple University's all-time scoring record; and
 
WHEREAS, Aaron was a first round draft pick for the Portland Trail Blazers in 1994; and
 
WHEREAS, In 1997 he returned to Philadelphia and began a seven year career as a Sixer; and
 
WHEREAS, During his seven seasons on the Sixers Aaron received the NBA's Sixth Man Award in the 2000-01 season, and also was a factor in the teams quest to win an NBA Championship that same year; and
 
WHEREAS, Aaron has donated much time and money into Philadelphia communities, and has served this City well both on and off the court; and
 
WHEREAS, That we as a body thank Aaron for all that he has done, and also wish him and his family good luck and farewell; now therefore
 
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby honor Aaron McKie for all his contributions to the 76ers, and to the City of Philadelphia.
 
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Aaron McKie, further evidencing the sincere sentiments of this legislative body.
