Renaming the 5200 Block of Wyalusing Avenue "Nehemiah Davis Way", to honor the work of community leader and dedicated youth mentor Nehemiah Davis.

WHEREAS, Nehemiah Davis Is a lifelong resident of West Philadelphia, and has dedicated his entire adult life to improving the lives of those experiencing homelessness, and the City's youth through his work as Founder of the Nehemiah Davis Foundation; and
WHEREAS, Nehemiah is a graduate of the School District of Philadelphia, and graduated from James Rhoades Elementary, Beeber Middle School, and Mathematics, Civics and Science Center High School; and
WHEREAS, The Nehemiah Davis Foundation (NDF) was founded in 2007 by Nehemiah and his mother Myra Grant, and its mission since inception has been to serve Philadelphia's children, families, senior citizens, and people experiencing homelessness; and
WHEREAS, Annually, NDF supports approximately 4,500 individuals through community-based initiatives, including educational programming, direct donations, and events; and
WHEREAS, The Nehemiah Davis Foundation hosts several annual events for youth and families, including fifteen consecutive ski trips, Thanksgiving food giveaways, and Christmas parties, all with the goal of bringing Philadelphians together to celebrate each other and the holiday season and creating new experiences for youth; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Davis has been awarded for his work with the Foundation several times since its inception, including the Presidential Volunteer Award, the Steve Harvey Hoodie Award for Neighborhood Service, and several awards from West Philadelphia churches, including Freedom Christian Bible Fellowship, and Bible Way Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, Nehemiah Davis has worked tirelessly for more than a decade to improve the lives of Philadelphians, and has built a legacy of help and hope that will continue to impact the City for years to come; now, therefore, be it
