Recognizing, honoring, and congratulating Elizabeth A. Murphy for her exceptional leadership at PECO and her subsequent retirement after an astounding sixteen-year career.

WHEREAS, Liz Murphy has had a long and exceptional career in transportation and utility policy, demonstrating a strong commitment to service and growing the number of women in the field; and
WHEREAS, Murphy began her career as the Transportation Director for the Speaker of the New York Assembly; and
WHEREAS, Murphy then served as the Director of Government and Regulatory Affairs with Roadway Services, one of the nation's largest trucking companies; and
WHEREAS, Murphy was Chief Operating Officer of the Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) where she managed operations of the bridges, cruise terminal, passenger ferry, rail yard and public safety; and
WHEREAS, Murphy first started at PECO in August 2006 as the organization's Senior Vice President of Governmental, Regulatory and External Affairs; and
WHEREAS, Murphy has driven PECO's commitment to provide its customers and communities with safe, reliable, clean, and affordable energy and energy services; and
WHEREAS, In 2018, Murphy received the Philadelphia Business Journal's Women of Distinction Award; and
WHEREAS, Murphy has also been honored by The Pennsylvania Diversity Council as one of the area's Most Powerful & Influential Women as well as one of Main Line's Most Influential Women by Main Line Today; and
WHEREAS, Murphy is deeply committed to the City of Philadelphia and larger region and faithfully serves on the boards of the Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation, Philadelphia Orchestra and Kimmel Center, Inc., Beltline Railroad, United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania & Southern New Jersey, and the World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia; and
