Honoring and recognizing Brown's Linens, Inc. For its historic contributions to the community and its commitment to excellence across four generations.

 

 

Body

WHEREAS, Brown's Linens, Inc., founded in 1937 at Broad and Grange Streets in the Olney section of Philadelphia, has been a pillar of the community for over 87 years, initially established by Bessie Brown with significant support from her husband Abraham Brown and other family members; and

 

WHEREAS, The business was further expanded by Willard Brown, who joined at the age of 20 in 1941 and extended its reach to Wadsworth Avenue in 1954 and Bustleton Avenue in 1963, demonstrating a commitment to growth and service; and

 

WHEREAS, Richard Brown, after completing his studies at Temple University, continued the legacy by joining the business in 1978, and the tradition of family involvement was further strengthened when Evan Brown joined in 2014, making Brown's Linens, Inc. a testament to four generations of dedication and success; and

 

WHEREAS, Today, Brown's Linens, remains a prominent establishment on Wadsworth Avenue while also maintaining a robust presence on the internet, reflecting its ability to adapt and thrive in the modern era; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That it hereby extends its heartfelt congratulations to Brown's Linens, Inc. and the Brown family. We commend their long-standing commitment to excellence, community service, and family heritage that has guided them through four generations. We celebrate their remarkable journey and look forward to their continued success and contributions to the community.

 

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this Resolution be presented to Brown's Linens, Inc. and the Brown family as an expression of the admiration and respect of this legislative body.
