Commemorating and honoring the 2025 Philadelphia Walk to End Alzheimer's for mobilizing thousands of Philadelphians in the ongoing fight against Alzheimer's through advocacy, research, and community care.

WHEREAS, In 1980, the Alzheimer's Association was founded by Jerome H. Stone and a group of researchers and family caregivers who wanted a national non-profit organization to support those affected by Alzheimer's and to advance research. Since its founding, the association has grown to become a leading global organization for Alzheimer's care, research, support, and research with a network of local chapters, volunteers, and support groups across the United States; and
WHEREAS, In 1991, the Philadelphia Walk to End Alzheimer's began as the Philadelphia Memory Walk co-founded by Orien Reid-Nix. It was the first of its kind and has grown into one of the most successful walks to bring awareness about Alzheimer's. The "Memory Walk" name symbolized the heartfelt journeys of individuals walking in honor and memory of families and friends who faced Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia; and
WHEREAS, The 2025 Philadelphia Walk to End Alzheimer's, will be held on Saturday, November 8th, it will be a moving celebration of community, hope, and remembrance, centered around the symbolic Promise Garden ceremony. Participants will walk in solidarity for a cause that touches millions of families and carrying flowers in colors that represent their personal connection to the disease; and
WHEREAS, Among the many dedicated participants, Eddie's Legacy Team has exemplified the spirit of the walk through its steadfast commitment to honor the memory of Eddie Hopson through dedicated participation on behalf of those affected by Alzheimer's.
