WHEREAS, Police Officer Robert Wuller began his career with the Philadelphia Police Department in 1997 and has had a nine year exemplary record of loyalty and service and received commendations and honors from the Department; and
 
WHEREAS, While driving alone in his patrol car on April 21, 2005, Police Officer Wuller received a call over the radio for help, reports of a woman and child screaming for help. Within minutes he was at an apartment building at 5200 Oxford Avenue; and
 
WHEREAS, Locked out of the building, Police Officer Wuller broke through the glass door and ran up stairs, following the screams for help. He kicked in the door and came face to face with a masked man with a gun aimed at him; and
 
WHEREAS, Police Officer Wuller fired at the suspect while a second suspect, who was stabbing a victim bound in duct tape on the floor, charged at him with a knife. Wuller fired 10 shots from his Glock 17. A third assailant was later arrested after Police Officer Wuller radioed in a description of him; and
 
WHEREAS, For the first time in history, a Philadelphia Police Officer has been named Police Officer of the Year by the International Association of Chiefs of Police and has been featured in the national publication Parade Magazine for his extraordinary efforts, courage and heroism; now therefore
 
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Police Officer Robert Wuller further evidencing the sincere admiration and gratitude of this legislative body.
