WHEREAS, Sunoco Inc., Philadelphia Refinery, 3144 Passyunk Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19145 is responsible for the installation of a Siren Alerting System in the neighborhoods surrounding the refinery; and

WHEREAS, Sunoco Inc., Philadelphia Refinery Siren Alerting System is designed to alert residents in the event of the release of hazardous materials from the refinery or for the use of the Philadelphia Fire Dept. to alert citizens in the event of a transportation accident involving the release of toxic materials; and

WHEREAS, Sunoco Inc., Philadelphia Refinery has requested permission to construct, own and maintain an aluminum post with siren, related equipment and an aerial electrical service on a traffic island bordered by South 56th Street, Lindbergh Boulevard and Elmwood Avenue; now, therefore,

THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA HEREBY ORDAINS:

SECTION 1. Sunoco Inc., Philadelphia Refinery, its successors and assigns, is hereby authorized to construct, own and maintain the following structures:

An aluminum pole, which is approximately fifty feet (50') high with a siren atop, is set into the ground approximately seven feet (7'). The centerline of the pole is located on Lindbergh Boulevard approximately seventy-one feet (71') west of the tip of the island (formed by Elmwood Avenue meeting Lindbergh Boulevard) and approximately twelve feet (12') north of the north curbline of Lindbergh Boulevard. Mounted on the pole approximately twenty-five feet (25') above grade will be a controller mechanism with battery back-up.
