Honoring Merrill Reese on twenty-five years of play-by-play for the Philadelphia Eagles.

WHEREAS, Reese, the son of a West Philadelphia dentist has a voice known throughout the Delaware Valley and to Eagles listeners on 94.1 WYSP; and
 
WHEREAS, Merrill Reese recently celebrated his twenty-fifth anniversary as a play-by-play announcer with the Philadelphia Eagles; and
 
WHEREAS, Reese, a graduate of Overbrook High School and Temple University, decided early on to become a play-by-play announcer; and
 
WHEREAS, After serving in the Navy, Reese did play-by-play for the University of Pennsylvania while subbing for Eagles commentator Al Pollard; and
 
WHEREAS, Since December 7, 1977, Reese has been doing play-by-play full time for the Eagles; and
 
WHEREAS, Reese is a die hard Eagle fan who prepares for games with the assistance of his wife Cindy and daughter Ida who drill him with flash cards; and
 
WHEREAS, Reese is so legendary for his play-by-play that fans often turn the volume on their television sets down and crank up WYSP on their radio; now, therefore
 
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we honor Merrill Reese for twenty-five great years of play-by-play for the Philadelphia Eagles.
 
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Merrill Reese as evidence of the sincere respect and admiration of this legislative body.
