WHEREAS, In 1987, Ms. Ahmeenah Young, a Philadelphia native, joined the original senior management team of the Philadelphia Convention Center Authority. Her dedication and vision helped shape the Convention Center into the largest hospitality economic generator in the state of Pennsylvania; and

WHEREAS, As a part of the original senior management team, Ms. Young assisted in the development and overall implementation of day to day operations, strategic planning and direction of the Convention Center; and

WHEREAS, In 1990, she became the Director of Marketing and Sales, where the success of the Convention Center is unparalleled in the Hospitality & Tourism Industry. In 1997, she became Vice President of Sales and Marketing, and in 1998 was promoted to Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing; and

WHEREAS, Under her leadership, the Convention Center implemented the most productive Affirmative Action policy in the country; granting many opportunities to minority construction firms, the unions, and welfare to work and non-custodial parents; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Young has actively promoted the City of Philadelphia as a first rate destination for hospitality and tourism through her involvement in several organizations such as: National Association of Black Meeting Planners, the Association of Convention Center Management Executives, International Association of Auditorium Managers, American Society of Association Executives, Professional Convention Management Association and Meeting Planners International; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Young has been recognized for her hard work and dedication through numerous awards such as the Philadelphia Bowl and the PhilaPRIDE Ambassador of the Year Award, Movers & Shakers, Outstanding "Sistah" Award, ...
