Commending Reverend Cannon Thomas Wilson Stearly Logan, Sr. on his 65th Anniversary in the Priesthood.

WHEREAS, Reverend Canon Thomas Wilson Stearly Logan, Sr. was born on March 19, 1912 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, After graduating from Central High School in Philadelphia, he received his Bachelor's of Sacred Theology from the General Theology Seminary in New York and later earned a Master of Sacred Theology from the Philadelphia Divinity School in Philadelphia, PA; and
WHEREAS, Father Logan was made a Deacon at Holy Apostle Episcopal Church in 1938 and advanced to the priesthood in 1939 at historic St. Peters Church in Philadelphia; and
WHEREAS, His calling has led him to serve many parishes and churches in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania; and, he has also preached in over one hundred Episcopal Baptist and Methodist churches as an Ecumenical Pastor; and
WHEREAS, Father Logan has faithfully performed his duties of administering God's loving work to all in his community; and
WHEREAS, Father Logan is a deeply devoted and loving husband to his wife, Hermione, and is a very proud parent to his son, Thomas Wilson Stearly Logan, Jr., and five grandchildren; now therefore
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby honor and commend Reverend Thomas Wilson Stearly Logan, Sr. on the occasion of his 65th year in the Priesthood; and
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Reverend Thomas Wilson Stearly Logan, Sr. as a symbol of this legislative body's gratitude for his pastoral leadership at the African Episcopal Church of Saint Thomas and within the Christian community in the City of Philadelphia.
