WHEREAS, Electric Factory Concerts began on February 2, 1968 with the opening of The Electric Factory at 22nd and Arch Streets in Philadelphia; and
WHEREAS, Founded by Larry Magid and Allen Spivak, The Electric Factory was the first live rock music venue; and
WHEREAS, Over the last 40 years, Electric Factory Concerts have promoted over 15,000 concerts all over the world and have brought nearly every major live entertainment performer to the Philadelphia area; and
WHEREAS, In 1985, they staged the largest charity concert of all time - LIVE AID - at JFK Stadium, which raised $75 million for famine relief. The concert's stunning success was one of the Philadelphia area's proudest moments; and
WHEREAS, In 2005, Electric Factory Concerts staged LIVE 8, a free concert for debt relief for poorest nations, on the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art; and
WHEREAS, Nearly one million people gathered on the Ben Franklin Parkway and participated in yet another milestone in Philadelphia's music history. The show was yet another stunning success and was broadcasted all over the world to over 3 billion viewers; and
WHEREAS, With unwavering passion and bold vision, Magid and Spivak have acted as architects of the live concerts business. They have created trends and templates which are still followed 40 years later; and
WHEREAS, Electric Factory Concerts have shaped the concert business into what we know it as today, while founder Larry Magid continues to lead the company as both a music industry pioneer and leader; and
WHEREAS, Electric Factory Concerts are also well known and respected for their philanthropic efforts, raising millions of dollars and awareness for local as well as international charities; and
