Recognizing, Honoring, and Congratulating the Philadelphia KiXX Soccer Team, Winners of the Major Indoor Soccer League 2007 Championship.

WHEREAS, The City of Philadelphia has waited five long years for a home team to win a championship, as 2002 was the last time that the Philadelphia KiXX won the Major Indoor Soccer League Title; and
WHEREAS, In regular season play, from November 5, 2006, to March 31, 2007, the KiXX amassed an impressive record of 17 wins and 13 losses; and
WHEREAS, The season included the exciting March 24th match at the Wachovia Spectrum against the Baltimore Blast, which was the first regular season match in MISL history to be nationally televised, and the KiXX were victorious with a score of 14 to 7; and
WHEREAS, Post-season play included the two-game series against the Chicago Storm, and after splitting that series, the KiXX clinched the semi-finals by scoring the “Golden Goal”; and
WHEREAS, The finals took our KiXX to Plymouth, Michigan, where they defeated the Detroit Ignition on their home turf in front of a sellout crowd at the Compuware Sports Arena by a score of 13 to 8, winning their second title in franchise history; now therefore
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That it Recognizes, Honors, And Congratulates the Philadelphia KiXX Soccer Team for bringing a Championship title home to Philadelphia, giving us all cause to celebrate.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to The Philadelphia KiXX, further evidencing the sincere admiration and gratitude of this legislative body.
