Honoring Principal Joanne Beaver of Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts, a recipient of the 2017 Lindback Award, which recognizes distinguished principal leadership.

WHEREAS, The Lindback Award, presented by the Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Foundation, recognizes principals who have made significant leadership and humanitarian contributions to their schools and communities; and
WHEREAS, Dr. William R. Hite, superintendent of the Philadelphia School District, described the award as recognizing "stellar achievements by principals across Philadelphia that benefit students, faculty, and staff members...with hard work, dedication, and creativity, our school leaders give their very best each day"; and
WHEREAS, Principal Beaver is herself a product of Philadelphia public schools and has been working with the School District of Philadelphia for 28 years. A graduate of Solis-Cohen Elementary School, Wilson Junior High School, and Northeast High School, Principal Beaver went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications and her Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Temple University. She also earned a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Gwynedd-Mercy University. Principal Beaver holds in Early Childhood and Elementary Education certifications, as well as Elementary and Secondary Principal certifications; and
WHEREAS, Principal Beaver taught for 17 years, primarily with Elverson Middle School and Carnell Elementary School, before becoming a principal. She also served as a principal at Clara Barton Elementary School and Thomas K. Finletter Academics Plus Elementary School; and
WHEREAS, Principal Beaver's background as a vocalist at Northeast and Temple has reinforced her commitment to CAPA's renowned arts programs, which are balanced at CAPA with rigorous study in other academic disciplines; and
