Renaming and Designating Daisy Field as “David Montgomery Field” in the City of Philadelphia.

Whereas, David Montgomery is the Chairman, minority owner and former President of the Philadelphia Phillies; and
Whereas, David Montgomery grew up in Roxborough and played at Daisy Field as a child; and
Whereas, Mr. Montgomery began his career with the Phillies in 1971 in the sales office selling season and group tickets. He then advanced to marketing director, director of sales and then executive vice president; and
Whereas, In 1992 Mr. Montgomery advanced to the position of chief operating officer and then became co-general partner of the Phillies and acquired ownership interest in the team in 1994; and
Whereas, The University of Pennsylvania alumnus then succeeded Bill Giles as the general partner, president and chief executive officer of the Phillies in 1997; and
Whereas, David Montgomery was recently awarded the Ed Snider Humanitarian Award by the Philadelphia Sportswriters Association for his lifetime commitment to philanthropic causes in the region; and
Whereas, David Montgomery is an inspiration to young Philadelphians, baseball fans and sports enthusiasts and a role model demonstrating that great success can be achieved doing what you love to do; now, therefore
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. Daisy Field is hereby renamed and designated as “David Montgomery Field.”
