Also naming the 1200 block of Brown Street as “Louise Savin Way” in honor of the life of Louise Estelle Savin.

WHEREAS, Louise Estelle Savin was born in Philadelphia on March 22, 1904, educated through the Philadelphia public school system, and graduated from William Penn High School for Girls; and
 
WHEREAS, Louise Savin married the late William Savin, and was a devoted wife and loving mother to their two sons; and
 
WHEREAS, In 1926, Louise and William Savin, and Louise's parents, Wendell and Sadie Miller, founded the Louise E. Savin and William W. Savin Funeral Home, Inc. Beginning in 1940, due to the untimely passing of her husband, Louise Savin ran the business on her own, serving the community as a licensed funeral director until her retirement in the late 1980's; and
 
WHEREAS, The Louise E. Savin and William W. Savin Funeral Home continues to serve the community from its location at the northwest corner of 12th and Brown Streets, under the direction of Louise and William Savin's son, William Savin; and
 
WHEREAS, Louise Savin was well known throughout her North Philadelphia community and surrounding areas for her effervescent personality, easy-going manner, and ability to put people at ease with good humor and quick wit; now therefore
 
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby honor the life of Louise Estelle Savin by also naming the 1200 block of Brown Street as “Louise Savin Way.”
 
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Louise Savin, further evidencing the sincere appreciation of this legislative body.
