Title
Recognizing December 15, 2001 as Bill of Rights Day in the City of Philadelphia.
Body
WHEREAS, The Bill of Rights was ratified by Virginia on December 15, 1791 and since that day, the rights of individuals in this Country have been argued and debated, but always clear at their foundation; and

WHEREAS, The Bill of Rights recognizes, affirms and protects the fundamental human and civil rights for which persons of all races and persuasions have struggled for thousands of years; and

WHEREAS, To preserve these rights and freedoms, our Forefathers and hundreds of thousands of men and women serving in police agencies and Armed Forces of the United States have sacrificed, suffered and died as heroes; and

WHEREAS, To commemorate the Bill of Rights with a day set aside for this purpose brings honor to the fundamental rights it ensures, and proclaims these rights to citizens throughout America; now therefore

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby recognize December 15, 2001 as Bill of Rights Day in the City of Philadelphia.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That we urge all citizens to reflect on the importance of the Bill of Rights in their own lives and in the life of this Country.
