Urging Governor Edward G. Rendell to authorize the Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority to release bids concerning the Convention Center expansion
Body
WHEREAS, the Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority (“PCCA”) is in the process of expanding the Convention Center, which will bring various benefits to the City of Philadelphia and the region; and
 
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Philadelphia has approved a significant number of Diversity Plans submitted by labor unions that will participate in the Convention Center expansion; and
 
WHEREAS, these Diversity Plans demonstrate a commitment by the various labor unions to diversity their membership and increase the inclusion of minorities and women in their organizations; therefore be it,
 
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby urge Governor Edward G. Rendell to authorize the Pennsylvania Convention Center
Authority to release bids concerning the Convention Center expansion in consideration of Council's approval of various Diversity Plans of labor unions.
