Authorizing the Committee on Transportation and Public Utilities to conduct comprehensive comparative research into the state of the City's transportation and public utilities systems and hold hearings into the same.
Body
WHEREAS, The state of our transportation and public utility systems have a significant impact on the economic and fiscal conditions of the City; and
 
WHEREAS, Massive investments have and will continue to be made in public transportation and public utilities; and
 
WHEREAS, The public benefits and costs of transit and public utility investments, expenditures and decisions have major effects on the livability and competitiveness of the City; and
 
WHEREAS, Comprehensive comparative data is needed on the state of the infrastructure, organization, operations, finances and costs of our transportation and public utility systems; and
 
WHEREAS, This information is necessary to assess the efficacy of our current systems and potential for improvement; now therefore
 
RESOLVED, That the Committee on Transportation and Public Utilities conduct comprehensive research into the state of the transportation and public utility systems in the ten largest U.S. cities and produce a report of their findings; and
 
FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Committee on Transportation and Public Utilities hold hearings into the state of operations of the City's transportation and public utility systems.
