WHEREAS, Sharon Powell, a native Philadelphian and proud Temple University alumnus, has dedicated her life to the service and betterment of the City of Philadelphia, contributing to its growth and development through a distinguished career spanning broadcast radio and television, local government, and corporate philanthropy; and

WHEREAS, Sharon Powell's provided a platform for community engagement and cultural enrichment serving as an Announcer and Producer at 1540 AM in Philadelphia, and Religious Editor for the Sunday Sun Weekly Newspaper, a publication that has long been an important voice for the African American community in Philadelphia; and

WHEREAS, Sharon Powell worked as Press Secretary for the City Commissioner of Elections, and Campaign Director for several elected officials, where she was instrumental in shaping successful campaigns, mobilizing voters, and fostering strong relationships between elected officials and the communities they served; and

WHEREAS, Sharon Powell's impact extended to statewide initiatives as she served as the Pennsylvania State Director for "Project Vote!" where she was pivotal in the passage and implementation of the Pennsylvania Motor Voter Bill, which made it easier for eligible voters to register and participate in elections; and

WHEREAS, Sharon Powell dedicated over twenty years to Comcast Cable, where she served as Senior Director of Government and Community Relations and helped to launch Comcast's Internet Essentials program, which provided affordable internet to low-income families; and

WHEREAS, Sharon Powell served on the boards of the Dawn Staley Foundation, the Point Breeze Performing Arts Corporation, the Police Athletic League, the Nicetown Community Development Corporation, and the University of Pennsylvania's The Field Center for Children's Policy, Practice, and Research, working tirelessly to support the a...
