WHEREAS, The Men of Mill Creek was established in 1999 by a group of men who grew up together in the Mill Creek community who came together with a common purpose to give back to the community that helped raise them; and
WHEREAS, For more than two decades, the Men of Mill Creek has been committed to serving residents of all ages. Their work has included educational, recreational, and community-service programs designed to strengthen families and provide opportunities for young people and seniors; and
WHEREAS, The Men of Mill Creek has supported and organized numerous programs and activities such as GED and educational programs, senior citizen programs and activities, youth basketball and football programs, and Thanksgiving turkey giveaways; and
WHEREAS, The Men of Mill Creek have hosted the Mill Creek Community Annual Reunion for the last 32 years, representing more than three decades of community connection, friendship, and remembrance; and
WHEREAS, The Men of Mill Creek have established a lasting physical location at 4656 Brown St at the corner of 47th street, which includes a barbershop, to enhance their work to preserve a legacy of service, brotherhood, mentorship, education, sports, and community involvement; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That the 700 Block of North 47th Street also be named “Men of Mill Creek Way” in honor of their legacy, impact, and service in the Mill Creek community.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed Copy of this Resolution be presented to the Men of Mill Creek as a token of our appreciation and acknowledgement of their lasting impact on the Mill Creek Community.
